There are 171,532 local and overseas job opportunities from 760
employers available to job seekers at the 2013 Labor Day Job Fairs in
the National Capital Region (NCR) today, May 1.
The 2013 Labor Day with the theme, Manggagawang Pilipino: Handa sa
Hamon ng Makabagong Panahon is being celebrated as a tribute to the
nation’s workers, in recognition of their significant contribution to
the country’s development, and to highlight their achievements as a
major socioeconomic pillar of Philippine society, Labor and Employment
Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said.
The 171,532 job vacancies are part of the more than 400,000
vacancies being offered by employers to jobseekers expected to troop to
the DOLE’s 75 job fairs nationwide.
“All of these vacancies are in identified key employment generator
(KEG) sectors, namely, cyber services, tourism, banking and finance,
hotel and restaurant, health and wellness, wholesale and retail trade,
automotive, and construction,” Baldoz said.
In Metro Manila, 16 job fairs are currently being conducte at
various SM Malls which were opened to all jobseekers, new graduates, and
returning and displaced overseas Filipino workers.
Baldoz added that 726 local employers and 37 licensed overseas
recruitment agencies will participate and offer job opportunities both
local and abroad to jobseekers in the Labor Day job fairs in NCR.
The NCR job fairs will be held at SM Malls in North EDSA, Fairview,
Novaliches, Manila, Sta. Mesa, San Lazaro, Valenzuela, Mega Mall, Pasig,
Marikina, South Mall, Las PiƱas, Sucat, Bicutan, Muntinlupa, and Mall
of Asia.
According to the labor chief, occupations in the wholesale and retail trade top the number of job vacancies with 27,750.
“These vacancies are for sales associates, sales marketing officers,
cashiers, store supervisors, accounting assistants, office staff,
production assistants, office management trainees, store management
trainees, assistant brand managers, account executives, security guards,
merchandisers, stockmen, inventory assistant, store clerks, and
auditors,"
Cyber services, with two categories, namely, call center/BPO
operations and information technology offer job vacancies for such
positions as facilities managers, technical support representatives,
collection specialists, network processing associates, data analysts,
sales support representatives, software testers, JAVA developers,
graphic artists, web developers, web designers, systems administrators,
systems programmers, call center engineers, software testers, logistics
staff, encoders, web and graphics designers, and game testers.
Construction industry offers job opportunities for architects,
electrical engineers, safety officers, safety engineers, field
engineers, civil engineers, pipe welders, heavy equipment drivers,
surveyors, formworks engineers, rebar engineers, estimators, senior
electrical design engineers, senior mechanical engineers, masons,
carpenters, material control engineers, and painters.
The automotive industry is offering jobs for such positions as motor
pool staff, tinsmiths, auto painters, washers, machinists, transport
associates, drivers, electroplaters, auto electricians, assembly line
technicians, chassis fabricators, and welders.
There are also job vacancies available in health and wellness for
such positions as as beauty consultants, branch sales consultants,
clinic staff, dermatologists, front-desk staff, graphic artists,
nutritionists/dieticians, pharmacists, sales representatives, spa
therapists, trainers, pharmacy assistants, pharmacists, massage
therapists, cashiers, receptionists, medical technologists, radiologic
technologists, clinic managers, manicurists, salon managers, and salon
stylists.
Jobs are also available for front desk officers, waiters/waitresses,
room attendants, bellmen, kitchen helpers, concierge officers, laundry
staff, dining personnel, dining supervisors, kitchen personnel,
restaurant management trainees, cooks, store/area managers, HR
administrative assistants, commissary operations managers, event
specialists, uniform and linen supervisors, and room attendants being
offered by the hotel/restaurant/tourism sector.
Jobseekers are advised to bring the following documents to the job
fairs: resume/biodata, copy of diploma, copy of transcript of records,
clearances, employment certificates, if there is any, ID pictures, and
other documents like TIN, SSS, and Phil-Health identification.
The DOLE-NCR has enlisted the support of the National Bureau of
Investigation, Bureau of Internal Revenue, Professional Regulation
Commission, Social Security System, Pag-IBIG, National Statistics
Office, PhilHealth, and the Philippine Postal Corporation for the
provision of onsite preemployment documentation and advisory services.
Smart Communications, Inc., a major sponsor of this year’s Labor Day
festivities, will provide the SMART Libreng Tawag (IDD Calls) for
families of OFWs at the job fairs at SM North EDSA and SM Manila, and at
the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration and Overseas Workers
Welfare Administration central offices.
The DOLE-National Capital Region, together with the Bureau of Local
Employment, Philippine Overseas Employment Administration, Overseas
Workers Welfare Administration, and the Bureau of Workers with Special
Concerns, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority,
National Conciliation and Mediation Board, Employees Compensation
Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Center, Bureau of Labor
Relations, National Labor Relations Commission, Maritime Training
Council, and the DOLE’s Administrative Service, Legal Service, and the
Labor Communications Office, is organizing the job fairs in the national
capital.
It is being supported by its partners, namely, SM Prime Holdings/SM
Supermalls, Smart Communications, Inc., Banco de Oro, Centrex, Asia
Brewery, Inc., PESO Association of Metro Manila, Philippine Association
of Service Contractors, Federation of Filipino Chinese Chambers of
