RR Enriquez also exits Banana Split

 MANILA, Philippines – After Melai Cantiveros, sexy comedienne RR Enriquez leaves ABS-CBN gag show “Banana Split,” but  not because of a packed schedule or a misunderstanding with co-actors.

“Hindi ko po alam kung kanino po nanggaling 'yung chismis na 'yun, pero since eto na po na nandito na, kumalat na po…

“Sige po, I'll be honest with you guys. The reason is medyo marami na po kami sa [cast ng] 'Banana Split.' Marami pong mga bago dun. [Umalis na lang po ako kasi] may mga segments po ako dun na nawala po ako. So parang ako po, medyo parang sabi ko, 'Mukhang hindi na ko napapansin dito',” RR revealed to Bulletin Entertainment and other members of the media at the presscon for “Precious Hearts Romance Presents: “Mana Po” held at 9510 Restaurant on Feb. 17.

According to RR, she quit the show just this Tuesday and that she was given by the “Banana Split” bosses a week to think about her decision. She added that her resignation isn’t final yet.

Initially, RR seemed reluctant to address the issue when the press asked her about it.
“Ang bilis naman kumalat ng chismis!” she exclaimed.

She also denied fighting with and harboring ill-feelings towards her “Banana Split” family.
“No! Hindi po ako nagtampo or whatever. Maintindihin po akong tao, hindi po ako ganun kababaw para magtampo or magalit sa kanila. Naisip ko lang po na siguro it's about time naman na, sige, mag-give way naman po sa mga bago. Tutal ako po nabigyan na nila ko ng chance na magkaroon kahit papano ng exposure sa show na 'yon.

“So I think it's time for me naman na [to give way] sa mga bago po. 'Yun po. 'Yun lang po talaga 'yung dahilan. Wala po akong sama ng loob sa kanila, wala po akong ka-gap do'n. Mahal ko po ang 'Banana Split' family. It just happened na kailangan ko lang po talagang... Ayun po,” RR explained.

Meanwhile, RR is slated to appear on the Melai-Jason Cantiveros starrer “Mana Po.” This is her first time to act on a teleserye and according to the comedienne, her character is very different from the image she usually assumes.

“'Di ba normally pa-sexy po ako, dito kakaibang RR Enriquez po 'yung makikita nila dahil tomboyish po 'yung image ko dito. Lagi po akong naka-cargo pants. So hindi po ako medyo pa-sexy dito,” she said, adding that her character is “jologs.”

Although RR said she is happy with her latest project, she also mentioned that she found her acting stint difficult at first.

“Masaya, pero nung una nahirapan ako. Pero dahil siyempre pinagkatiwalaan nila 'kong kunin dito sa show na 'to, talagang kahit papano talagang pinaga-aaralan ko talaga. Gusto ko kahit papano ma-proud sila sa 'kin dahil ako 'yung kinuha nila. So gusto ko, 'yun, 'di ako mapahiya,” she said.

More, RR admitted to feeling proud whenever people would compliment her for bearing resemblance to fellow Kapamilya actress Anne Curtis, but said that she’s trying to distance herself to avoid further association with the latter.

“Siyempre po proud dahil maganda po si Anne Curtis at siyempre sobrang sikat [niya]. Pero ayun, wala naman po akong pinaretoke sa mukha ko. Nagpaputi lang po talaga ko.

“Medyo nilalayo ko nga po 'yung [image] ko sa kanya dahil kadalasan po talaga napagkakamalan po or, 'yun nga po, hindi po maiwasan sinasabi na ginagaya ko nga daw siya. Pero 'yun po. Hangga't maaari po iniiwasan ko pong ma-[compare] po talaga,” said she.

“Precious Hearts Romance Presents: Mana Po” not only marks RR’s debut as an actress, it’s also the first time that onscreen and real life couple Melai and Jason will star in their own series. Joining them in the cast are Buboy Garovillo, John Arcilla, Johan Santos, Tom Rodriguez, Giselle Sanchez and Megan Young.  Directed by Katski Flores and Ted Boborol, the rom-com series premieres on Feb. 21 in ABS-CBN’s Hapontastic block, right after “Agimat Presents: Kapitan Inggo.”
