PHL can ask US for custody of suspect in death of transgender woman –DFA

Foreign Affairs Secretary Albert del Rosario on Monday said the Philippines can request for the custody of American soldiers believed to be involved in heinous crimes like the killing of a transgender woman in Olongapo City over the weekend. Although the Visiting Forces Agreement states that custody of a member of the US military involved in a crime in the country goes to the USA, there is this exception, said del Rosario.
