Mayweather Jr No Plans For The Next Fight

WBC welterweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (42-0, 26KOs) gave no indication on when he plans to return to the ring. After a 16-month layoff, Mayweather returned on Saturday night to score a knock out of Victor Ortiz (29-3-2, 22KOs) in four rounds. Will he return in the near future? Will he take another 16 months off? Mayweather's return will be decided by Mayweather, and not HBO or Golden Boy Promotions.

"Like I've said before, there is a boss at the company that tells [Manny] Pacquiao and all of these other fighters - 'this is your date, this is when you have to fight.' I move when I want to move. I fight when I want to fight. That's the great thing about being my own boss. That's the great thing about my career. That's the great thing about getting away from Bob Arum. I can move when I want to move. Since I gave the sport so many great fights, is it okay for me to take 16 months off to spend time with family? That's all I ask," Mayweather told BoxingScene.com.

"I'll go home, sit down with my team and see where we go from here. I'll sit down with Al [Haymon], sit down with Roger [Mayweather], sit down with Leonard [Ellerbe] and we'll see what the next. I'm not thinking about retiring right now, but I'm thinking about training fighters."
