4 New Cases of A(H1N1) in Dela Salle University

The AH1N1 cases in the Philippines have increased from 43 to 46 according to Department of Health (DOH). The new cases includes 4 students from Dela Salle University in Taft making a total of 7 cases of infected students. Far Eastern University-East Asia College have also confirmed that they have one student who is infected by the virus.

“We have reached 46 and although it’s a big number we are fortunate that all of these are just mild cases which are consistent with most of the cases of A(H1N1) we are seeing in other affected countries,” said Health Secretary Francisco Duque III during the press conference.

Meanwhile, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) have postpone the opening of classes in Colleges and Universities. The school opening is moved to June 15. According to CHED Chairman Emmanuel Angeles, the postponement of classes will allow Filipinos and Foreigners who came abroad to self quarantine themselves for possible A(H1N1) infection.

Gasoline Prices Increases by 1.50

Effective yesterday, the major oil players in the Philippines have implemented an increase of P1.50 per liter for diesel and kerosene and Php 1.00 per liter for gasoline prices.

The oil companies said that the increase of prices is based on the upward movement of the crude prices in the international markets.

The LPG Marketers Association (LPGMA) said that the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas is expected to increase in the days if the prices in the world market continues to increase.
