Vic Sotto to host TV5 "Who Wants to be a Millionaire"

Apparently this news came from yehey.com website stating that it is confirmed that Vic Sotto will be hosting TV5 new game show "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire". The show is intended to replaced Gretchen Barreto's "You and Me against the World" that suffer heavy losses due to low ratings and low commercial load.

Although there are still no confirmation yet from Vic Sotto, this will be his first television show that he will be doing that is not produced by T.A.P.E.

Hmmm... Magiging bagay kaya Bossing Vic na maging host ng Who Wants to be a Millionaire.

The last time that the show was shown on Philippine Television, it was hosted by Christopher De Leon aired at Channel 13. The show also produced great results in tv ratings and proves to be one of the best game show.

Here's a previous episode of Who Wants to be a Millionaire:

Pede nga siguro si Boss Vic mag-host hawig sila ni Boyet De Leon.

Ludy's Peanut Butter ordered to be pullout from the market-BFAD

The Bureau of Food and Drug Administration (BFAD) has said in an interview that Ludy's Peanut Butter Sweet and Creamy and Ludy's Peanut Butter Spread was found to have a disease-causing organism.

Sorry ABS-CBN Pacquiao-Hatton will be aired on GMA-7

After days of mis-understanding between Solar Sports, GMA-7 Network and Manny Pacquiao team, Solar Sports Entertainment has officially declared that Manny's fight with Ricky Hatton will be aired in the Philippines through GMA-7 and not ABS-CBN.

Wilson Tieng, President of Solar Sports, and Peter chan Liong, Chief Officer-in-Charge of Solar Sports, flew to the United States to settle the issue with Manny Pacquiao. The parties have decided accordingly for the benefit of both parties and the public interest.

“It was only a little misunderstanding between us and the Pacquiao camp,” said Jude Turcuato, Solar Sports vice-president for sales and marketing. He also noted that GMA-7 will remain Solar's brodcast partner as stipulated in the block time agreement.

My Opinion:
At least they have settled the issue once and for all. Manny will now focus only on one thing: knocking out Ricky Hatton.

Good luck Manny.

Paquiao-Hatton will not be shown on GMA?

GMA Network mentioned in a statement last Thursday that “it is very disappointed with the reported decision of Manny Pacquiao to transfer from Solar Sports to ABS-CBN the rights to broadcast his fight with Ricky Hatton on May 2, 2009 and his other fights."

GMA also cleared that the present contract for the brodcasting of Pacquiao’s fights in the Philippines is between Manny Pacquiao and Solar Sports and not between Manny and GMA Network.

It aforementioned Solar Sports just enters into blocktime arrangements with GMA Network for the broadcasting of Pacquiao’s fights in the Philippines.

GMA Network also quoted Beth Celis column with the Philippine Daily Inquirer last March 18, 2009, which revealed, “The network (ABS-CBN) is said to have offered Manny full media support in the next election to ensure victory in the next year’s congressional elections."

GMA Network said that they did not offer this kind of arrangements with Manny Pacquiao because it will be in violation with the Omnibus Election Code that does not allow television companies to contribute of partisan political activity either directly or indirectly.

Currently Manny Pacquiao airs to existing programs with GMA network, "Pinoy Records" and "Totoy Bato". GMA Entertainment group are also offering other programs to Manny as soon as his schedule allows it. Future programs with Manny includes having his own sitcom, a drama series, concert in Las Vegas and Los Angeles in the United States including key cities in Canada and boxing clinics in the Philippines.

Furthermore, GMA’s legal counsel, Dick B. Perez said that Manny Pacquiao has a separate contract with GMA Network, which disallows the boxing icon from appearing on “any TV program, show, promotion or event of any other broadcast media entity other than GMA and its subsidiaries and affiliates without the written consent of GMA." As of to date GMA has not given him its consent to appear in ABS-CBN.

--------------------------------------->
My personal opinion:
I hope that Manny Pacquiao, Solar Enterntainment , and GMA will sort out the case before the fight with Ricky Hatton because this will be an "additional baggage" to Manny. One suggestion is to let Solar and GMA run this show and sa susunod na lang umeksena ang ABS-CBN.

Good luck Manny!

Smith can be acquitted with new statement of Nicole

Nicole, the raped victim of Lance cpl. Smith, has left the country and issued a termination of services to her lawyer Atty. Evelyn Ursua. Atty. Ursua confirmed the reports that her client, Nicole has left the country and that she have received a letter of termination.

“Yesterday (March 16), at about 5:30 in the afternoon, Nicole’s mother personally handed me a letter addressed to me, purportedly from Nicole. The letter is brief. It reads that it serves as Nicole’s notice of termination of my services as her counsel in the criminal case against Daniel Smith and all other cases arising from or related to it which are pending before the Court of Appeals (CA) and the Supreme Court,” Ursua said.

Nicole also made a sworn statement regarding the raped incident that is in total opposite to her previous allegations. The sworn statement can also lead to Smith's acquittal of the raped case.

Higlights of the sworn statement are:

8. With the events at the Neptune Club in mind, I keep on asking myself, if Daniel Smith wanted to rape me, why would he carry me out of the Neptune Club using the main entrance in full view of the security guard and the other sources? Why would the van park right in front of Neptune Club? Why would Daniel Smith and his companions bring me to the seawall of Alaba Pier and casually leave this area that was well lighted and with many people roaming around?

If they believed that I was raped, would they have not dumped me instead in a dimly lit area along the highway going to Alaba Pier to avoid detection?

9. I told the court that Daniel Smith kissed my lips and neck and held my breast inside the van. Recalling my testimony, I ask myself now how could I have remembered this if witnesses told the court that I passed out and looked unconscious when I was brought to the van by Daniel Smith. How could I have resisted his advances given this condition? Daniel Smith and I were alone on the third row of the van which had limited space and I do not recall anyone inside the van who held my hand or any part of my body. What I can recall is that there was very loud music and shouting inside the van.

10. If the travel from Neptune Club took only several minutes and with the driver of the van trying to beat the curfew time of his passengers, how could I have instantly regained my consciousness and talked to the people upon reaching the seawall of Alaba Pier? When people gathered around me at the seawall, everyone seemed to have drawn the conclusion that I was raped except for one who called me a bitch.

11. Based on the account of SBMA police, I was very hesitant to board the mobile police car that brought me to the headquarters for investigation. I was so confused and the first thing that entered my mind was how would my mother and boyfriend react if they learn that I was last seen with Daniel Smith and that a condom was seen on my pants after Daniel Smith left the van? I was scared of losing not only my American boyfriend but the chance of living in the United States. In fact, I did not immediately tell my boyfriend that I was raped by Daniel Smith. All I said was that something bad happened to me.

12. I expect many sectors to question my motives in executing this statement more than three years after the incident. However, as I practically grew up interacting with American servicemen in Zamboanga City who treated me and my family very well, and thinking over and over again how I may have conducted myself at the Neptune Club, I can’t help but entertain doubts on whether the sequence of events in Subic last November of 2005 really occurred the way the court found them to have happened.

13. My conscience continues to bother me realizing that I may have in fact been so friendly and intimate with Daniel Smith at the Neptune Club that he was led to believe that I was amenable to having sex or that we simply just got carried away. I would rather risk public outrage than do nothing to help the court in ensuring that justice is served.

Atty Ursua said in interview with dzXl radio "Nakita ko kagabi ang notary public, abogado rin ni Smith, kasi member siya ng law firm… Ang abogado ni Smith ang Sycip Salazar [I learned last night the notary public is a lawyer of Smith. He is a member of the law firm Sycip Salazar that represents Smith]. It raises more questions,"

----------------------------------------
My Opinion:
Based on the sworn statement by Nicole it is in total opposite of what has the Filipinos believed of the raped case. There are so many NGO's that has supported her in fighting for justice and all of the sudden she will retract her initial statements againsts Smith. Nicole, upon confirmation of the affidavit, should also be charged for making the whole case a circus.

Pops hopes that Jomari-Martin conflict will not escalate

This is the latest news from GMA 7 about Pops reaction to Jomari-Martin conflict.

"Shocked" was how Pops Fernandez described herself in a previous article here in PEP (Philippine Entertainment Portal), at iyon din ang fitting adjective para sa Concert Queen when she graced the launch of Mikaela Aesthetic Center at the CCP Complex Bay Terminal B, Roxas Boulevard, Manila last March 16.

Sagot ng 42-year-old mom, "I don't call it a vacation, feeling ko parang isa siyang meditative...kumbaga rest lang. Three days din yun. It's so nice to be with people that you care for and people who support you, lalung-lalo na siyempre yung mga kaibigan ko, yung mga anak ko rin. Maski naman di ako umalis, okey na okey na ako [kasi] magkakasama kami ng mga anak ko. Siyempre, yung family pa rin."

Sa ngayon ay nasa "moving on" phase na raw siya. Ani Pops, "Okey naman ako. The hurting part is a very long process and the healing part sometimes takes longer but I'm okey...No, I think, it's really time to move on and that's what I wanna do."

"There's a closure but it will never be clear to me," ang sabi niya. "For now, it's not on my part but let's respect that. Kagaya nga ng sinabi ko, it's not really by choice, but I just wanna move on. The same with Jom, he wants to move on, kumbaga he wants to start a new life, and siguro dapat ganun na lang."

On my part, masakit pa, naghi-heal pa ako.

"Naiitindihan ko rin naman yung part ni Martin, as a matter of fact, siguro as the father of my kids and as a friend, siguro normal lang yun na reaction. With all honesty, di naman talaga siya kailangang mag-comment but because siguro he chose to be a friend, he decided to say something.

"Naiintidihan ko rin naman si Jom because nga siguro, mainit pa yung issue, kumbaga kabi-break pa lang namin...Siguro nga he's going through something."

May chance pa kaya na magkabalikan?

"Di ko alam, kabi-break lang namin, gusto na ninyo agad na magkabalikan? Ako, I always believe that when the door closes, a window opens. I'm sure, sobrang maganda ang rason for all of these," was her optimistic answer.

Manny Pacquiao Number 1 on Sports Illustrated Pound for Pound List

The pride of Filipinos, Manny Pacquiao hailed as Sport's Illustrated world's best pound for pound king. Sports Illustrated, the widely read sports magazine described Manny as "dazzling at whatever weight class he chooses to fight."

Manny Pacquiao is scheduled to fight British superstar Ricky Hatton at the MGM Grand. A victory on Hatton will give Manny the fifth world title in different weight classes that includes the flyweight, super-bantam, super-feather and lightweight.

The other Sports Illustrated pound for pound kings are:

1. Manny Pacquiao (48-3-2)
Pacquiao has been dazzling at whatever weight class he chooses to fight. On May 2, the Pac-Man gets an opportunity to rule the junior welterweight division when he takes on 140-pound king Ricky Hatton. A win over Hatton all but guarantees a shot at former pound-for-pound champ Floyd Mayweather Jr., who many feel is lurking in anticipation of a Pacquiao victory.

2. Juan Manuel Marquez (50-4-1)
Marquez's power seems to increase with his weight. He ended his first two fights at lightweight with spectacular knockouts and has clearly established himself as the world's dominant 135-pounder. A fight with another lightweight contender like Nate Campbell could be a prelude to an eventual showdown with Hatton at 140.

3. Shane Mosley (46-5)
The 37-year-old Mosley looked 10 years younger in dismantling Antonio Margarito in January. Forget titleholder Andre Berto -- the world wants to see a rematch between Mosley and Miguel Cotto to determine the true welterweight champion.

4. Bernard Hopkins (48-5-1)
Who will the ageless Hopkins fight next? Chad Dawson is a logical opponent if Hopkins stays at light heavyweight, but B-Hop has expressed an interest in fighting cruiserweight champ Tomasz Adamek. Is fighting at 200 pounds biting off more than he can chew?

5. Chad Dawson (27-0)
Dawson's May 9 rematch with Antonio Tarver is a waste of everyone's time; Tarver was outclassed the first time, he will be outclassed again this time. The real fight for Dawson, if he can somehow raise his profile enough to make himself appealing enough, is against Hopkins.

6. Israel Vazquez (43-4)
Vazquez, who has been sidelined for more than a year following retina surgery, says he wants to return to the ring this summer, and he may do it at featherweight. That's only a good idea if Rafael Marquez moves up to 126 pounds with him. Vazquez will need a tune-up fight before any major showdown, but when he is ready, it should be a fourth fight with Marquez.

7. Kelly Pavlik (35-1)
Memo to HBO and Showtime: one of you needs to step up and make Pavlik-Arthur Abraham happen. If that means enticing Abraham to come Stateside this summer for a look-at-me fight with a fringe contender, so be it. Make it happen. The world needs to see a fight between the two most explosive middleweights in boxing.

8. Miguel Cotto (33-1)
Cotto rebounded nicely from last summer's savage beating at the hands of Antonio Margarito with an equally savage victory over Michael Jennings. Word is that Cotto will fight granite-chinned fellow titleholder Joshua Clottey in June in New York. That's a good fight for Cotto, who will probably have to box for 12 rounds to defeat Clottey.

9. Paul Williams (36-1)
I keep hearing how Williams isn't exciting enough or a big enough name to warrant a fight with any of the welterweight, junior welterweight or middleweight contenders. Huh? Has anyone actually been watching Williams the past two years? He has ricocheted in and out of three different weight classes and has been winning in staggeringly impressive fashion. If he can be equally as impressive against Winky Wright next month, Williams will have earned a shot at either Mosley or Pavlik.

10. Vic Darchinyan (32-1-1)
First, Darchinyan beats (and shuts up) Cristian Mijares. Then he goes out and dismantles Jorge Arce after telling everyone he was going to do just that. My kind of fighter. Rumor has it that Darchinyan is looking to move up to bantamweight to fight either Anselmo Moreno or Joseph Agbeko.

Go Manny! We are proud of you.

Jomari breaks his silence with POP's break-up

Talaga ngang yatang umiinit ang issue sa hiwalayang Pops and Jomari. Sa initial telecast ng GMA's Cool Center Jomari breaks his silence in his break-up with Pops Fernandez. But the comments that he said was focused more on Martin Nievera's interviews sa PEP News na kung saan Martin told that he no longer wanted to work

with Jomari and his production. To recap Jomari's first production is the reunion concert of Martin-Pops which proves to be successful.

Here are some of th excerpts of Jomari's video at cool center: "Mr. Nievera hahayaan na lang sana kitang magsalita ng magsalita kasi sa pakiwari ko I dont owe you any explanation nor I am accountable or responsible to you for my actions."

"Kami ni Pops nagusap na. We have a three hour talk the other Monday (day) at kung anung napag-usapan namin ni Pops sa amin na lang yun but I will assure you that we have settled the issues between us in a very matured manner."

Jomari further added "Mr. Nievera, I find it strange and hypocritical that all people ikaw pa ang nagsasalita about Pops getting hurt. I maybe one but if you have unresolved guilt within you please refrain from using my situation with Pops para lang magmukha kang malinis sa mukha ng tao".

Mabigat na statement to address to Martin, let us hope and see what will be Martin's response to this. What about your comment dapat ba talagang mag-comment si Martin about Pops break-up or should he just leave them alone?
